Most Medicare and health insurance carriers do not contract with individual agents directly. Agents contract through an agency or FMO, which provides carrier access, training, technology, and support. Working through an upline does not cost you anything. You are paid by the carriers, and the agency is compensated separately through overrides. Choosing the right upline is one of the most important career decisions an agent makes.
Your clients are your clients. Whenever a carrier allows it, we set you up to be paid directly by the carrier so you keep your renewals. Not every company offers direct pay, but that is always our goal when structuring your contracts, and we explain how each carrier pays before you sign anything. We grow by helping agents succeed, not by trapping them.
We believe agents stay because of value, not contracts. If WellPlus is ever not the right fit, we grant releases to agents who are in good standing with the specific carrier or carriers involved, and we handle the process professionally and in writing. Ask us about this before you contract. We are happy to explain it, because most agencies will not.
To sell health and life insurance in Florida you need the 2-15 Health and Life license. The process includes a state-approved pre-licensing course, fingerprinting, and the state exam.
